
Al Lewis writes a column for Dow Jones Newswires called “Al’s Emporium,” which offers an unconventional perspective on the business headlines of the day.

Lewis, 50, makes frequent media appearances, discussing business trends and developments. He regularly appears on Fox Business Network, and discusses his column on Denver’s 9News, KUSA-TV on Sunday mornings, usually a little after 7:15 a.m.
He frequently details the follies of big business and conventional thought regarding the market and the economy. He often presents a humorous or counter-intuitive point-of-view and strives to capture the human drama as it unfolds in the business arena.
Lewis has worked as either a financial writer or editor since 1985.
Over the years, he has won several awards, including honors from the Associated Press, the Society of Professional Journalists, the Colorado Press Association and the Society of American Business Editors and Writers. He has twice won the William R. Clabby Dow Jones Newswires Award.
Lewis, who grew up in Northbrook, Ill., earned a master’s degree in public affairs reporting from the University of Illinois at Springfield and a bachelor’s degree in journalism and political science from MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Ill.
