Do Republicans stand for inequality?

Survey Said ...

A new Census report shows the gap between the rich and poor is widest in states that vote Republican.

Six of the 10 counties with the highest income disparity were in Texas, Louisiana, Georgia and South Carolina. Wealthier counties tend to vote Democrat. Click here to  read more  about the report.

The report reminds me of a converstation I had with a caller on an A.M. radio show.

The topic was whether the rich should pay more in taxes. The caller – who identified himself as a conservative Republican – said no.

I asked him if he was rich, and standing up for his own self-interest. He said, no, and then told me he was living in a double-wide trailer. I’ll never forget his words:

“I am not rich now, but I plan on being very rich some  day, and I do not want to face a confiscatory tax policy when I get there,” he said.

“Well, I want to wish you luck with that,” I said.

The greatest thing the GOP has going for it, is this jackpot mentality. Give all your political support to policies that benefit the rich, because who knows, you might be rich, too,  some day.

You can say that again. I believe it. I don’t think it’s an opinion, I think it’s empirical. And yet, they don’t realize it. Why?

Are you kidding? This type of analysis is nonsense. I guess the poor people in the south are just to stupid to realize the gravy train the Dems always promise. How could they be so dumb as to pass on all the free stuff the Dems promise just for their vote? If they could just get all the poor people, not just the minorities, they would be in heaven. The people that vote for a living would then surely outnumber the people who work for a living and the elections would be a snap. Maybe the poor in the south are a lot smarter than the liberal elites. Almost every state is much better fiscal shape than NY, NJ, IL, CA, so maybe they should spend their time and money in better ways than these idiotic census studies.
