Still A Long Way To Go For Brazil’s Semiconductor Industry

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)–The Brazilian government’s efforts to jump-start its domestic semiconductor industry haven’t inspired companies to set up local manufacturing plants.

Years of spending on information technology, as well as tax incentives, have failed to draw big players away from their traditional bases in Asia.

They say concerns over labor laws, transport and energy infrastructure, and a work force capable of handling intricate chip production have kept investment dollars out of Brazil. Continue reading…
