Marcus Wright is a Senior Editor at Dow Jones Newswires, responsible for all editorial operations in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region. Marcus heads a network of 260 reporters, editors and translators working from 32 bureaus in 26 countries in the region. Dow Jones Newswires is the real-time financial news unit of Dow Jones & Co. Inc, which also publishes The Wall Street Journal. Marcus is located in London.
He has held his current position since August 1, 2006. Prior to that, he was the Newswires Senior Editor for the Asia-Pacific region, based in Singapore. He moved to Singapore in 1996 from New York, where he worked as an assistant news editor, responsible for Dow Jones Newswires’ global foreign exchange coverage. Between 1989-1992 Marcus was a correspondent for Dow Jones in the Gulf, located in Bahrain. His Middle East assignment coincided with the invasion of Kuwait and the first Gulf War, during which he reported on the unfolding crisis and its implications for regional energy supply and financial markets.
Marcus joined Dow Jones in 1987 as a reporter in London , covering the UK equities markets. Before Dow Jones, he was a reporter for the Middle East Economic Digest magazine in London covering financial and energy issues in the Gulf and North Africa. He graduated from Oxford University in 1980 where he earned an Honours Degree in Modern History.
Marcus is married with three sons. His hobbies include tennis and classical piano.
