I have worked in the U.S., Europe and Asia during the 27 years I’ve been in the news business – covering finance, politics, social issues and crime – and recently returned to the States after nine years living and working abroad. I’m now in New York City as Senior Editor, Global News Coverage, for Dow Jones Newswires. Prior to this, I spent three years as the Singapore-based Senior Editor in charge of Dow Jones Newswires’ Asia-Pacific editorial team, and before that served as the Senior Editor for Europe, the Middle East and Africa; the position was based in London and we lived in the U.K. for nearly six years. During the 1990s, I worked for The Wall Street Journal for nine years, first as a reporter in Pittsburgh (where I met the man whom I would eventually marry) and then as Deputy Bureau Chief (reporting and editing) in Detroit, where our first child was born. I moved to New York City in 1997 as News Editor in charge of mutual funds coverage and took charge of health coverage after that; our second child was born in Manhattan. Before joining The Journal in 1991, I was a reporter for the Omaha (Neb.) World-Herald. My time there included stints in the newspaper’s Lincoln, Neb., and Washington, D.C., bureaus. I have Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in English and Political Science, respectively, from Yale University, and speak rusty French (in addition, I have eight years of Latin under my belt.) I love swimming, reading, eating and watching television. Lately I’ve grown to love blogging.
