It certainly seems like if we fixed the one on the left, we can figure out how to fix the one on the right. The big difference is this – the credit market crisis that put our banking system on the brink of failure happened quickly and demanded fast action. The health care system still works but is hemoraging slowely. So, Congress will respond when health care is on life support. In Washington, if you don’t have to act quickly, well, why bother? I think a third panel my favorite political cartoonist could have added would have read: “Too Big To Think About.” Handelsman would have been referring to social security.
