What Is It With Men? (Yes, Again)

My 11-year-old son adores and admires Tiger Woods. Now, what do I tell him? Answer: I’ll most certainly say nothing about today’s admission that Woods cheated on his wife and betrayed his family. I’ll refer you to an Oct. 2 blog, “What Is It With Men”?, which I wrote when David Letterman disclosed his philandering. The first sentence of that blog read like this: “I could fill this blog with the names of prominent philandering men in business, politics, entertainment and big-time sports. David Letterman’s just the latest. There will be more.” Sigh.

As I’m sure someone must have noted after your Oct. 2 blog, women cheat, too. In fact, some of those cheating women hook up with the same “prominent philandering men in business, politics, entertainment and big-time sports” who dishearten us so.
Since men dominate business, politics and sports, of course they more often get the lurid coverage.
BUT, if you look into the big-name entertainment cheaters, going back to Liz Taylor’s heydey and beyond, then you start to see how philandering is an equal-opportunity precipice.
