Companies hire public relations firms to help them build image, deliver messages and attempt to control they way all of us think about a company. It often begins with the way companies go about describing themselves. In recent years, “solutions” have become the big buzzword. I recall traveling to Vienna a few years back and saw on a storefront a sign that advertized “refreshment solutions.” The company sold coffee machines.
So, flipping through the newswires today, I came across this self-description by a company: “A leading provider of technology solutions and the market leader in electronic control devices.” Guess what this company does and who the company is? Answer is on the the next page…
The company is TASER International, and among other things, it makes the stun guns used by some law enforcement officials.
